AGM to coincide with MKT Anniversary

This year's AGM of the Top End Flying Club will coincide with the 28th anniversary of MKT aerodrome being established by the Meyering Family back when people genuinely asked "where the bloody hell is Noonamah" because it was considered "out bush".

When is it?

6:30pm on the 26th of August 2011 at MKT Airfield in the TEFC clubroom.

Armin will be cooking up a storm so come along and remember you do need to be financial to vote.

We have seen a transformation in the club, the airfield, the infrastucture that supports the airfield and maybe most importantly an acceptance by the greater community of the Top End and Government that we are a positive cornerstone in the plans to develop the outskirts of Darwin and the new city of Weddell.

Committee Meeting TEFC at MKT Aerodrome tomorrow evening Tuesday 16 November 2010 6:30pm

There will be a committee meeting tomorrow evening.

Some of the topics on the agenda as I understand it are preparing a response to the misinformation being spread on both ABC Radio and through the NT News regarding the future of MKT Aerodrome.

As you will probably be aware, we believe that responding with fact and citizen-minded intentions that will aid the aviation community while working in concert with the broader community - Weddell residents and Territory residents is the correct thing to do.

Progress continues at MKT and AGM on 29 October

More work is currently underway to bitumuse wider turning areas at the end of 07 and 25 which will add a further 100 metres to both ends of the already 1km runway. The wider areas at the end is for the VH aircraft to have a wider turning circle so they don't dig up the bitumen.

That will have the bonus effect of reducing some of the dust and offer the ability for runups to performed down at 07 rather than the potential of blowing dust over engines being worked at Aaron's workshop.

We now have a big shiny new petrol tank for avgas that delivers a cheaper rate of fuel to MKT pilots. More and more aircraft are choosing to refuel at MKT rather than go into Darwin airport.

As mentioned in the title, our TEFC AGM will be held on 29 October 2010 - hope to see you there.

With all the talk of UFOs in the newspaper and even mention of a UFO seminar in the Northern Territory, it is no wonder we seem to be garnering more than our fair share of papparazzi photographers who seem to want to take photos of MKT from all locations and vantage points. My only request is that the little green members who own hangar RosWell51 avoid hovering their disk over locals and turning on their disco ball lights while in flight. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Official Media Release from the RA-Aus Board Meeting

I am pleased to be able to provide a copy of the media release relating to our recent meeting in Canberra. Unlike a number of areas in other jurisdictions where weather or lack of aircraft give rise to idle thoughts of conspiracy and secrecy within the RA-Aus Board, I am happy that the NT with its 149 or 127 members depending on who is counting has focused on ensuring that MKT is a hub of aviation activity in the recreational, GA and small commercial sector.

End of month meeting this Friday

The end of month meeting will be held this Friday at the MKT clubhouse. Lots to discuss as always. I am pretty sure the upcoming bitumisation of MKT will be on the agenda and I understand that yet another helicopter is to be added to the Toy Box.

Video Conferencing - free and cuts down on costs

I wrote an article over on my blog about Acrobat.com the other day and recommend that those on the board of RA-Aus read it and establish an account. It is free and we can trial its use for meetings (admittedly only three people at a time) but those who can and are willing will be able to see how this works better than a normal phone conversation.

I have established a room and I am very happy with the video quality for a service that is hosted out of North America.
