I am going to get some of this wrong but here goes... The training drifter has been offline recently for a number of things. What started out as a leg change for the drifter became on closer inspection a wiring issue which required work to the loom and the replacement of a burnt out earth wire. The brakes are being refurbshed with brakes that work. There are probably more things that Sam and Vince are working on but I didn't jot them all down.
I know from personal experience with my drifter that the little things become big things very quickly. One broken spring on the muffler quickly becomes two broken springs and a wobbly wheel can become a crack in an aircraft boom.
So to our students who fly the training aircraft, regardless if it has just been flown by someone else, carry out a preflight, a good preflight and check the maintenance documentation and PLEASE observe any signs that say that the aircraft is unserviceable.
If you find something, please write it down. What you write may save the life of the person who is considering taking the aircraft up.
We all want to fly, and there is nothing worse than having the training aircraft offline... Well actually there is something worse... that is if one of our students became "offline" because someone said "she'll be right" or something similar. Luckily at MKT, Sam, Vince and the instructors ensure that the training aircraft is up to scratch.
So if things take a little longer, be happy in the knowledge that you can grumble about it on the ground and not be grumbling at 500ft because something has just fallen off the aircraft.
The minutes to last week's meeting are on the way...
