CORRESPONDENCE IN
Verbal complaint about low flying over the manmade lake located east of MKT behind the training area. The complainant advised that an ultralight aircraft had been flying low. The complainant has been invited to MKT to identify the aircraft.
CORRESPONDENCE OUT
Nil
BUSINESS ARISING
Members discussed the low flying incident. The club is reminded that 500ft is the lower limit unless taking off or landing. There is of course the low level endorsement and whereas in the past we simply required permission from the land owner of the training area to conduct low flying, ensuring that no livestock were in the paddocks – now we need an actual endorsement.
Our club has a fly neighbourly policy.
GENERAL BUSINESS
Mower
A group traveled to Katherine to view a tractor/slasher for sale. It proved unsuitable. Vince would explore the purchase of a cutter/slasher from Litchfield Hotel that is excess to requirements. Any purchase options will be compared with a renting option over a three year period.
City of Weddell and impact on MKT.
A long discussion was held regarding the impact of Weddell on flying activities at MKT. The consensus is that there is definite scope for the two to coexist and provide mutual benefit. It is important to note that the airfield has been in operation for 28 years and any new residents need to be made clearly aware that the airfield will continue to operate.
Training Aircraft Engine Refurbishment
The training aircraft's engine has been replaced and the original is being refurbished. It must be emphasised that this engine uses premixed two-stroke and is not oil injected.
Avgas at MKT
Avgas will be available at MKT from the first or second week of March 2009. Anyone wanting to purchase avgas need to contact Steve Driver, Caleb or someone in the GA Maintenance hangar.
Meeting ended 10:55 a.m.
