Early this year we had a chance to get a good deal from Poolwerx on a salt chlorinator. We took the deal and purchased the salt chlorinator which had the reverse polarisation on the plates so that calcification wouldn't occur and it told you when the salt was low. The gentleman who came to install it took one look at the pool liner that was about to give way and refused to install for fear of damaging the pool or the chlorinator.
The pool project
May 24
Our pool is old. It is a concrete inground pool that had a liner. If you are not interested in pool refurbishment projects, do not read on.
Vince kindly agreed to let me film him retensioning my propellor and apart from the retensioning process, I filmed the use of tie wire which without a tie wire tool is quite tricky to twist. These are simple tasks for some, but people like me who are challenged by tasks that involve motor skills now have a video to work off.
Living up to the adage that he with most toys wins... Congratulations Rob (and to Jill for patience)

Fixing a thong
Jul 15
Ever had a broken thong? I am of course talking about the kind you wear on your feet.
Well I blew out one of my Australian flag thongs that I had bought in Sydney for two dollars because my shoes were hurting. This was during the time I was assisting the Mango Liberation Front in the repatriation of Molly the Mango who was rescued from Bill the fruiter in Circular Quay. But I digress.
If you encounter a broken thong, simply grab a couple of those plastic rectangular clips they use to tie loaves of bread from the supermarket and clip it onto the broken part of the thong. Of course you have to do it to the bottom of the thong. If you have broken off the knobby bit of the thong, cut a small groove into the remaining stem about 3 millimetres back from the end clip on the bread bag clips.
Check out the photo album for examples.

Oh, and remember, if you are going to put the tabs back onto a loaf of bread, please wash them as they may have gotten dirty
