I have written in my eLearning blog about livestream and the aviademy tv channel that I have set up. Apart from being an experiement to see how useful this would be in our traditional education context (although a TV channel on the internet is probably not that traditional)... I expanded the idea of having live video coverage at Natfly next year where we could capture the quality content from the workshops and the flightline and play that back live and as a repeat for those who didn't make it to the event.

If we take the idea further down the path of a TV channel dedicted to teaching people about flight and about flight safety where we could have selected CFIs from around Australia (or the world) provide a 15 minute coverage of a topic live or scheduled to an audience. What I like is the ability for that show to be recorded and played back or even better, using twitter, the live audience can ask questions of the expert.

Imagine if we could interview Ed over in Perth, Wayne Fisher about his aerobatics, Rod, Eugine, Myles, Nick, Mick, Lee and Steve... Steve picking up a wooden propellor shattered bcause bolts were tightened too tight and showing it us live and answering questions has far greater impact than the same article in a magazine.

Before those who love magazines leap in, the clarity of photographs in the magazine, the words to refer to when you are away from a computer are positives for the magazine approach. The video adds value to the magazine or static web page when you are trying to get a safety message across or demonstrate yaw in an aircraft.

My challenge to Australian CFIs in RA-Aus - who will be the first to have a segment filmed and placed up on the web in our live TV channel prototype?
