Find that stolen camera and Mobile Device Management

I have just returned from holidays and luckily my camera was not stolen, but if it was, I would have checked out http://www.stolencamerafinder.com which allows you to enter the serial number of the camera (so go and write it down right now) and the website will trawl the web looking for photographs that have the same information (exif data) stored within them.

There is a great article in the Age Newspaper about the website and success stories.

Teacher Assistant for Lanschools - Using the iPad as classroom computer controller

My brother and his work colleague Kim put me onto LanSchools. Although we would like to think that all students (be they adult or K-12) diligently use their computers for the tasks related to their learning, human nature sometimes gets in the way and this software solution allows teachers to control individual computers in a class and by pairing it with an application on the iPad, the teacher can roam through the class or stand at the whiteboard/lecturn presenting or reviewing computer screens. Students can also ask questions of the teacher using the software.

This is great because it offers both options of mobility or positioning in a classroom that is entirely up to the teacher.

What is more, it seems that it is free with the light version of the product. The iPad application is certainly free and all you need is a wireless access point that can be used within the classroom.
