I have just returned from holidays and luckily my camera was not stolen, but if it was, I would have checked out http://www.stolencamerafinder.com which allows you to enter the serial number of the camera (so go and write it down right now) and the website will trawl the web looking for photographs that have the same information (exif data) stored within them.
There is a great article in the Age Newspaper about the website and success stories.
While on the subject of finding things lost or stolen, one of the challenges we have in an enterprise environment is keeping track of mobile devices like iPads, iPhones which can go missing. Mobile Device Management (MDM) Servers can do that for you by enrolling a device with your organisation, configuring it with settings, preloading it with applications and tracking down where the device is physically located.
One of the companies offering such a server is airwatch.
There is a very useful 8 minute video that covers features and benefits. Apple provides the configuration tool, but this application offers much easier and comprehensive management as well as rich reporting features.
