While checking out a reference for our copyright guru I checked out an explanatory video at http://CreativeCommons.org which explained about how creative commons works to protect copyright but at the same time allow people to use works without the administrative nightmare that usually accompanies it.

The video had someone listening to cool music on their i-pod downloaded from http://www.opsound.org/ which is a site dedicated to providing free music. Always read the Creative Commons requirements and honour the attribution (where you got it from - the artist etc). This is a cool repository and I am sure there are others.

There are other sites around and as I have mentioned before I love SmartSound's music collections and their technology that allows you to fit a piece of music to a specific time period - for example a 15 second startup sequence. Their products cost money but it won't break the bank. To listen to the offerings from SmartSound, visit http://www.smartsound.com/expresstrackweb/

There are academic offerings and it makes sense to have your learning sequences completed and then select any music you might require to set the mood, motivate or enhance your sequence. The music clip will be generated and added into your learning sequence before being published.
